How to prepare for a job interview



A job interview can be a very daunting prospect, especially if you are not used to them. Here are some tips on how to prepare for a job interview, so that you can make the best possible impression and increase your chances of getting the job.


1. Do your research before the interview, it is crucial that you do your research about both the company and the role you are applying for. This will help you to understand what they are looking for in a candidate, and give you an insight into their culture and values. You can find out information about the company online, through their website or social media channels, or by speaking to someone who works there.


2. Prepare answers to common questions There are certain questions that tend to crop up in most interviews, such as “tell me about yourself” or “why are you interested in this role?” It is a good idea to have prepared answers to these questions beforehand, so that you don’t get caught off guard and fluster during the interview itself.


However, don’t memorize your answers verbatim – this will come across as unnatural and insincere. Instead, just jot down key points that you want to touch on so that you stay on track during the conversation.


3. Practice makes perfect It is also worth practicing your interviewing skills with someone before the big day itself – whether that’s a friend, family member or even just in front of a mirror!




This will help boost your confidence on the day and ensure that you know exactly what to say when asked those all-important questions. If possible, try and simulate realistic conditions as much as possible; for example, if you know the interviewer will be sat behind a desk during the meeting then sit at a desk yourself when practicing at home.
